Sendspace is a file sharing website. You upload a file in your browser, and it gives you a link to send to someone else. Its free plan is built for one-off sends, and it has been a familiar choice for people who want to pass a document or a clip to a colleague without signing up. People look for a Sendspace alternative for a few reasons: a file that is bigger than the free per-file limit, a wish to share with a short code rather than only a link, or a preference for apps on their own phone and computer. Rapidfile is one option. This page sets out what Rapidfile does differently, and which one suits which job.

Where Sendspace is the stronger pick
Being fair to Sendspace saves you time, so here are the cases where it may suit you better.
- You already use it. If your recipients know Sendspace links and you have an account and a routine there, changing services for a small file adds friction with little gain.
- A published download allowance. Sendspace's FAQ states a 1 GB daily download cap on the free plan and 8 GB a day on premium. Rapidfile's free daily quota is a limit on sending, not on downloads, so the two numbers do not compare directly. If your question is how much your recipients can pull down each day, read Sendspace's page before you decide.
- Files that are clearly under 300 MB. For a single document or a set of photos that fits comfortably under the free limit, Sendspace's upload page is quick and needs no setup.
Where Rapidfile fits better
- Bigger files without an account. Rapidfile accepts up to 500 MB per transfer with no sign-up. Sendspace's free FAQ lists 300 MB per file, so a 400 MB export works on Rapidfile without an account. For more on this, see sending a 500 MB file.
- Codes and QR codes for in-person sharing. Every transfer gets a link, a 6-digit code and a QR code. Someone across the table types the code at rapidfile.cc/receive, or scans the QR code with the Android app.
- Apps for desktop and Android. In the Mac and Windows apps, right-click any file in Finder or File Explorer and choose "Rapidfile: Get link" or "Send to my devices". The Android app adds share-sheet support and QR scanning. See the apps page.
- Command line and scripts. The CLI runs on Node 18 or newer with no extra dependencies, and
rapidfile send <path>sends a file from a terminal. A plaincurlupload also works. - Folders without zipping first. Drag a folder in and it is zipped in your browser with its structure kept. Details are in sending a folder online.
- Clear options on every transfer. Set a password, a download limit and an expiry time before you upload. See password protected file sharing for how that works.
What Sendspace's free limits look like in practice
The 300 MB figure is the number that matters most for a free send. Sendspace's own FAQ gives it, and its homepage notes that the free limit was temporarily brought back to 300 MB while the company added servers to handle demand. That is a useful reminder that free limits change, and that a limit you saw last year may not hold today. The same homepage says password protection requires an upgrade. Check Sendspace's plans page for its premium prices and file retention period before you pay for anything.
Rapidfile's free plan works differently. Without an account you can send up to 500 MB. With a free account you can send up to 2 GB and choose a link that lasts 1 hour, 1 day, 3 days or 7 days. Rapidfile's paid plans raise the size per transfer to 10 GB on Plus and 50 GB on Pro, and links can run up to 14 days on Plus and 30 days on Pro. Expired transfers are deleted automatically, and you can delete a transfer early if you no longer need it.
A practical test tells you more than any table. Pick a file you would normally send, upload it to both services with the expiry you need, and time the process from start to finish. Note whether your recipient had to create an account, install anything or retype a link. That result reflects your own habits and your recipients' habits, which no comparison page can know in advance.
Moving from Sendspace to Rapidfile
If you decide to switch, the steps are short:
- Open rapidfile.cc on the computer or phone you use most. Files up to 500 MB need no account.
- Set the expiry and, if you need it, a password before you upload.
- Copy the link or the 6-digit code into your message. Rapidfile does not email your recipient, so you share the link yourself.
- For files above 500 MB, up to 2 GB, sign in with a free account. Larger files need the Plus or Pro plan.
Your recipients do not need to change anything. They open the link or type the code, as they would before.
Privacy and security
Rapidfile encrypts files in transit with TLS and encrypts them at rest on Cloudflare's network. Every upload is scanned with ClamAV, an open source virus scanner. A flagged file shows a warning and a "Download anyway" option, so the recipient can decide. Files are deleted automatically at expiry. Rapidfile is not end-to-end encrypted, which means the service can access the files it stores, so do not use it for material that must stay unreadable to the host.
Read its privacy policy and its terms before you upload anything sensitive to it, and compare what each one says about encryption and deletion.
Which one should you use?
Use Sendspace if you already have an account there, your recipients use its links, and your files are 300 MB or less. Use Rapidfile when you want to send files up to 500 MB without an account, share with a code or QR code, or use apps on Mac, Windows and Android. If you are not sure which fits, try both with a small file and see which one your recipient finds easier to open.
FAQ
What is the file size limit on Sendspace's free plan?
Sendspace's FAQ says free personal users can send files of up to 300 MB each. Its homepage has also said the free limit was temporarily set back to 300 MB, so check the site before you rely on it.
Can Rapidfile send a bigger file than Sendspace's free plan?
Yes, for files between 300 MB and 500 MB, which Rapidfile accepts without an account. Files up to 2 GB need a free Rapidfile account. Sendspace's paid plans have their own limits, so compare them on both sites.
Do I need an account to send a file with Rapidfile?
Not for files up to 500 MB. For larger files, up to 2 GB, you sign in with a free Enzonic account. Recipients never need an account.
Can I send a Rapidfile link without an email?
Yes, and Rapidfile does not send an email on your behalf. You copy the link or the 6-digit code and share it in your own message.
Does Rapidfile have a mobile app?
Rapidfile has an Android app, with share-sheet support and QR scanning. There is no iOS app, so iPhone users use the website at rapidfile.cc in Safari or another browser.
Is Rapidfile end-to-end encrypted?
No. Files are encrypted in transit with TLS and at rest, but Rapidfile is not end-to-end encrypted. Do not rely on it for the most sensitive material.
