A Postimages Alternative for Images and Video

Postimages lets you upload images without an account and keeps them without an inactivity limit. Here is how it compares with Rapidfile Media, where each one fits better, and how to upload in a minute.

Step by step

  1. Open Rapidfile Media

Go to media.rapidfile.cc and sign in with your free Enzonic account.

  2. Add your images or videos

Drop files onto the upload area or tap to choose them. Free files can be up to 100 MB each.

  3. Copy the direct link

Each file gets a direct CDN link. Videos also get an embed code for your own page.

  4. Share or embed it

Paste the link into a forum, chat or email, or add the embed code to your site.

Postimages is a free image host people use to share photos in forums, marketplace listings and websites. Its appeal is simple: you can upload without creating an account, and its FAQ says images are not removed for inactivity. Some users want video in the same place, a larger free file limit, or a host that treats uploads differently. Rapidfile Media is one alternative. It is not better at everything, so this page lays out the differences plainly.

Where Postimages is the stronger pick

Being honest about this saves you time:

  • No account for a quick upload. Anonymous uploads are part of the normal flow, so you can post a photo in seconds without signing in.
  • Original EXIF data by default. Anonymous uploads keep their EXIF data. If you are a photographer who wants camera details visible, that is a real advantage. Signed-in users can choose in account settings whether EXIF data is removed.
  • Large photo batches. Postimages allows up to 1,000 images in a single batch. If you upload galleries in one go, that is useful.
  • A clear, short FAQ. The rules it does state are easy to find, which helps when you need to check a limit quickly.

If any of those matters most, Postimages may be the better fit for your uploads.

Where Rapidfile Media fits better

  • Images and video together. Postimages' FAQ covers images. Rapidfile Media handles photos, GIFs and video in one account, with direct CDN links and embeds. Go to Rapidfile Media to start.
  • A larger free file limit. The free plan allows files up to 100 MB. Postimages' free and anonymous limit is 32 MB, and its premium limit is 96 MB.
  • Stated free allowances. The free plan includes 1 GB of storage and 200,000 CDN requests a day, so you know your starting limits before you upload.
  • A video player you can embed. Videos play in a custom player, and you can place them on a page with the embed code. See the pricing page for plan details.
  • Ad-free paid plans. The free plan is supported by ads. Paid plans remove ads on all Rapidfile products and apps.
  • A copyright process. If a file needs to come down, use the process at media.rapidfile.cc/dmca.

Anonymous uploads and metadata

Postimages keeps original EXIF data on anonymous uploads, which is useful for some people and a privacy risk for others. A photo can carry the time, the camera model and, on many phones, the GPS location where it was taken.

Before you upload a photo to any host, decide whether you want that data public. If not, remove it first. Most phone photo apps have a share option that strips location data, and image editors can remove EXIF data too. Rapidfile Media does not change your files for you, so treat this step as your job rather than the host's.

Postimages' FAQ lists a few features as Premium-only, including replacing an image while keeping its URL and embedding images in email newsletters. If you need either, check those features on its site before you choose.

On Rapidfile Media, paid plans change the size and volume limits rather than adding those features. Creator allows 5 GB files and 100 GB of storage. Studio allows 20 GB files and 500 GB of storage. Plus and Pro also raise Media limits, which are listed on the pricing page.

Moving your images

If you already have a Postimages library, download the originals you still need before you change anything. Upload them to Rapidfile Media, copy the new direct link for each file, and update the links in your posts or pages. Keep a note of the old and new addresses, so you can check that nothing broke.

How Rapidfile Media handles your files

  • Rapidfile is not end-to-end encrypted, so do not treat Media as a private vault for sensitive images.
  • Files stay until you delete them, and deleting a file ends its link.
  • Media works in a browser. Rapidfile has no iPhone app, so iPhone users open the website in Safari.

Which one should you use?

Use Postimages if you want a quick anonymous upload of photos, you need original EXIF data kept, or you upload large photo batches. Use Rapidfile Media if you host video as well as images, need a free file limit above 32 MB, or want an embeddable video player. Many people keep both: one for quick photo sharing, one for everything that needs a stable home.

FAQ

Is Postimages free to use?

Yes. Anonymous and free uploads are allowed, with a 32 MB file limit and a 10,000 by 10,000 pixel maximum. Premium raises the file limit to 96 MB. Premium prices are on Postimages' site, not its FAQ.

Does Postimages delete images that are not viewed?

Its FAQ says you will not lose images because of inactivity. Its terms of use still apply, so check them for any other reason a file could be removed.

Can I upload to Postimages without an account?

Yes. Anonymous uploads are allowed, and they keep their original EXIF data.

Can Rapidfile Media host videos as well as images?

Yes. Videos play in a custom player, and you can embed them on your own page. Postimages' FAQ covers images only.

How much can I store on Rapidfile Media for free?

1 GB of storage, 200,000 CDN requests a day, and files up to 100 MB each. Paid plans raise those limits.
