Step by step
Create an app
Sign in at api.rapidfile.cc with a free Enzonic account, create an app and copy its secret key. Keep it on your server.
Ask for an upload
Your server sends the file details and access setting to the Upload API and receives a signed upload address.
Send the file
The browser or a script sends the image or video to that address. Rapidfile keeps the file until you delete it.
Serve it
Public files are served from a CDN with direct links. Private files are shared through signed URLs your server creates.
ImageKit is an image and video service that stores media and delivers it through a CDN, with transformations applied by changing the URL. A product photo can be requested at a particular width, cropped or converted to a modern format without you creating each variant in advance. That is a real strength for e-commerce sites, publishers and apps where many image sizes are needed. People look at alternatives for other reasons. They may need only storage and delivery, want predictable tiers instead of bandwidth overage, or have files that are not images at all. Rapidfile's Upload API is one option. It stores files persistently for developers' apps, issues signed browser upload addresses, supports private files and sends webhooks. It does not transform media, so this comparison is about storage and delivery, not image processing.

Where ImageKit is the stronger pick
ImageKit does things Rapidfile does not. Its URL-based transformations let a front end ask for the exact size it needs, and the image is generated and cached on delivery. That removes a step from many pipelines, and it is the main reason media-heavy teams choose it. ImageKit also includes digital asset management features such as search and organization, and it meters video processing separately, with 500 units a month on the free plan and 5,000 on Pro.
If you run a site where images change shape for each device or context, ImageKit is the better fit. Rapidfile does not list anything comparable, so you would have to generate thumbnails in your own worker or pick another service for that job.
ImageKit's plan structure also works well for teams that want a graduated path: free, then Lite, then Pro, each with a clear bandwidth and storage allowance. Its free plan's 20 GB of bandwidth is a useful size for a small site.
Where Rapidfile fits better
Rapidfile is built for storage, persistence and simple delivery. These are the points that matter most:
- Bandwidth free on paid tiers. ImageKit's Lite plan includes 40 GB of bandwidth, and extra bandwidth is billed at $0.50 per GB on that plan. On Rapidfile's paid tiers, bandwidth is free, so downloads do not add a per-GB charge to the monthly bill.
- Larger storage for the price. Starter gives 100 GB for $5 per month. ImageKit's Pro plan gives 225 GB of storage for $89 per month, and its Lite plan gives 10 GB for $9. The two products are not priced for the same job, so compare them only if your files are mostly stored, not transformed.
- Bigger files. Rapidfile's free tier allows files up to 512 MB, and paid tiers go up to 50 GB per file. Multipart uploads handle large videos and archives.
- Private files and signed URLs. Mark a file as private, and your server creates signed URLs for the people who should see it.
- Unlimited CDN requests. Public files are served without a request cap.
- A plain API. The Upload API has a JavaScript SDK, webhooks and an MCP server for AI agents. Your server controls who receives an upload address.
For image hosting with direct links and embeds rather than an API, Rapidfile Media at media.rapidfile.cc is a separate product. Its free plan includes 1 GB of storage, 200,000 CDN requests per day and files up to 100 MB. Its paid plans start at Creator, which is $4.99 per month for 100 GB. The full list is on its pricing page.
Choosing between delivery and processing
The key question is whether your app needs the image to change when it is requested. If a page needs a 300-pixel thumbnail of a 6,000-pixel photo, a transformation service saves you from storing and maintaining that thumbnail yourself. If the page only needs the original photo, storing it once and serving it through a CDN is enough, and that is a simpler setup.
Many teams use both. ImageKit or another service handles the image pipeline, and Rapidfile stores documents, archives, large video files and originals that never need to be resized. Keeping the storage roles separate also makes it clearer what each part costs.
Migrating from ImageKit
Moving files is usually the easy part. Start by listing your media library and noting which files are original uploads and which are generated variants. You only need to move the originals, because the variants can be produced again from them. Download the originals, upload them through the Upload API, and then update the URLs in your database or templates. Keep the old URLs working until the new ones are confirmed, and check how any transformation parameters in your code will be handled once the originals no longer come from ImageKit.
Before you decide, measure how your app uses images today. Count how many distinct sizes your pages request, how much of your traffic is images compared with other files, and how often the same file is downloaded. If you request many sizes of the same picture, a transformation service removes storage and build work that you would otherwise maintain yourself. If most of your traffic is a small set of originals, the simpler storage model is usually easier to run and easier to explain to your team. Note the monthly bandwidth you see on your current plan, since that is the number most likely to change the bill.
File size is the other limit to check. Large RAW photos and high-resolution video can exceed the per-file limits of a free image plan, so confirm the limits on ImageKit's site before you assume your largest file fits. Rapidfile's free tier allows files up to 512 MB, Starter allows 4 GB, Growth 16 GB and Scale 50 GB per file. Multipart uploads handle files up to 50 GB on the Upload API. If your files are mostly raw camera output, this difference can decide the comparison on its own.
Which one should you use?
Choose ImageKit if you need on-the-fly image and video transformations, a digital asset management tool, or a CDN that resizes media for each device. Choose Rapidfile's Upload API if you mainly store and serve files, want bandwidth included on paid tiers, need files larger than typical image limits, or prefer a plain upload API with predictable monthly tiers. If you need both, use them together.
