Filemail is a file transfer service that lets you send files from its homepage without registering. Its free plan covers transfers up to 5 GB, and its paid plans go much higher. People look for an alternative for different reasons: they need a free account for larger files, they want a different sharing workflow, or they are comparing paid tiers before they commit. This page sets out the differences so you can choose.

Where Filemail is the stronger pick
Being honest about this saves you time:
- Larger free transfers without signing in. A 3 GB folder of raw photos can go through Filemail's free plan with no registration. On Rapidfile it needs a free account, and the limit is 2 GB.
- Bigger paid transfers. Filemail's Pro plan lists 250 GB per transfer, and its Business plan lists no set limit per transfer. Rapidfile's largest transfer is 50 GB on Pro.
- Team and business plans. Filemail offers a Business plan and a custom Enterprise option aimed at companies. If a team needs a shared setup for regular large transfers, its business tiers are built for that kind of use.
If you regularly send files between 1 GB and 5 GB without wanting to sign in, Filemail's free plan is the simpler choice. For a broader view of the options, see our comparison of free file transfer services.
Where Rapidfile fits better
- Small files with no sign-in. Anything up to 500 MB goes through without an account. Read sending files without signing up for the details.
- Codes and QR codes. Each transfer gets a 6-digit code and a QR code. Recipients type the code at rapidfile.cc/receive or scan the QR code in the Rapidfile app. That is quicker than typing out an email address in a room full of people.
- Ad-free paid plans. The free plan shows ads. Plus and Pro remove ads on all Rapidfile products and apps.
- Apps for Mac, Windows and Android. In Finder or File Explorer, right-click a file and choose "Rapidfile: Get link" or "Send to my devices". The Android app adds share-sheet support.
- Folders without zipping first. Drag a folder onto the uploader and it is zipped in the browser with its structure kept. See sending a folder online.
- One account for more than transfers. The same Enzonic account signs you in to Rapidfile Media, which hosts images and video with CDN links, and to the Upload API for developers who need files to stay put until they delete them.
Free sending and sign-in
The difference between the two free plans comes down to what you need to do before you send. Filemail's free plan lets you start without registering and allows up to 5 GB. Rapidfile asks for nothing up to 500 MB. Above that, you sign in with a free Enzonic account and get up to 2 GB.
So a file of 1.5 GB is the clear case where Rapidfile needs you to sign in, and Filemail does not. Once you are signed in, a Rapidfile transfer also lets you send to your own phones and computers through the "My devices" inbox, which is useful when you move a file between your own machines.
Phones and tablets
Rapidfile has a native Android app and a web app that works in any modern browser. There is no iOS app. iPhone and iPad users send from Safari at rapidfile.cc, and the recipient needs only a browser, so an iPhone can both send and receive without installing anything.
Receiving works the same way on every device. The person on the other end opens the link, or goes to rapidfile.cc/receive and types the 6-digit code. Nothing needs installing, and the file arrives in their browser as a normal download. A folder arrives as a single zip archive that keeps its structure, so the recipient unzips it once and gets the same layout you sent.
If your workflow depends on a dedicated iPhone app, check what Filemail offers on its own site before you decide.
Which one should you use?
Use Filemail if you need to send between 2 GB and 5 GB without signing in, or if you are shopping for a business plan with large per-transfer limits. Use Rapidfile if your files are 2 GB or under, you want codes and QR codes for quick sharing, or you want ad-free paid plans and apps for Mac, Windows and Android. Before you pay for either, confirm current free expiry and prices on Filemail's site, because third-party listings do not agree.
